Books Acquired In September 2026

Good morning readers! These are all of the books that I acquired/received/borrowed onto my shelves, virtual and/or physical, for the entire month of September:

I borrowed all of these from Libby.

I borrowed these from my local library.

I chose this book for my First Reads choice this month. Not my usual genre but I’ve been in a autumnal mood lately.

I was approved for these two this month!

I was sent the widget of this one thanks to Tonya at Thriller Book Lovers!

Library Stats and Savings For September 2026

I absolutely LOVE using my library for all my books and audiobook needs. I do not have a lot of money to blow on a hobby, so I found a good way to support my community, my library and my reading habit! The library has a ton of resources and I always check there first for audiobooks I want to listen to or books I want to read. Libby is my friend and I have multiple library branches hooked up to my account for maximum borrowing.

I thought it’d be fun to post monthly updates about my library stats, on top of keeping up with my official challenge page.

And I have read 80% of the books I have checked out at the library this year!

This month (and next) Angel and Anne are hosting a Bingo board through Library Love Challenge. This is my current progress!

This week consisted of going to work in the morning of course. Then when I got home from work I was running around doing errands for camping and then actually packing for our first camping trip of the year. I have been SO PUMPED to go camping as my soul has needed crisp sunny air. Bbuuuuutttttttttt, New Jersey was hit with a nor’easter this entire weekend! We had to move campsites for a day because we got completely flooded out.

With being so busy and having no real time for myself, my reading has suffered greatly. I have also DNFed a bunch of books this month. These are the only two I am currently reading/listening to.

Book Blogger Hop: What’s the best investment you’ve made for your blog?

The Book Blogger Hop was created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ran until December 31, 2012. It was reintroduced by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee-Addicted Writer on February 15, 2013, with Jennifer’s approval. The hop occurs weekly, starting on Friday and ending the following Thursday, featuring a specific book-related prompt each week. The main goal is to connect bloggers, encouraging them to follow each other, discover new titles, and grow their audience.

Today’s topic: What’s the best investment you’ve made for your blog?

The best investment I’ve made into my blog has really been posting as often as I can, and having decent, engaging content for my followers to read. I don’t think I know how to express my opinions well and yet I enjoy blogging and giving my thoughts on books I’ve read.

I’m honestly just here to read the books I want to read and tell everyone about the books I enjoy.

Thriller Thursday: On The Ice by Keaton McGruder

Title: On The Ice
Author: Keaton McGruder
Format: eBook
Length: 352 pages
Genre: Thriller
Publication Date: February 2, 2027

A chilling, complex mystery about a screenwriter’s feverish search for her missing brother on an Antarctic research station by debut author Keaton McGruder.

Ellie Best wins a coveted grant to write a screenplay while staying in Antarctica at McMurdo Station, and the best part is that her brother Leo, a climate scientist, is leading a research expedition there. But when she arrives, Leo has gone missing . . . and no one can survive for long out on the ice.

Desperate to find out what happened to Leo, Ellie begins to investigate. Everyone is a suspect in the isolated, claustrophobic research station. The scientists and support workers Leo knew were changed by the months of darkness, forming a tangled web of relationships, lovers, enemies and secrets. And when there’s a deadly fire on the base that echoes the script Ellie is writing, she realizes that danger is still lurking in the station—and she could be the next target.

Told in dual perspectives, in Leo’s polar winter in pure darkness and Ellie’s austral summer in constant light, On the Ice is a chilling debut mystery about isolation, survival, and the need for human connection and love—set against the breathtaking, and deadly, landscape of Antarctica.

WWW Wednesday – September 23, 2026

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?

I am still reading an Amazon First Reads backlog eBook titled Falls To Pieces by Douglas Corleone. I hope to make really good progress on this one over the weekend.

I am listening to He Sees You When You’re Sleeping, the first book in the Naughty or Nice series.

I borrowed the large print edition What Have You Done? from the library and only read a little bit of it so far.

Since I last posted all of the books pictured above have been finished, and rated &/or reviewed on Storygraph.

These books are the ones I plan to read next, but I’m a mood reader so we shall see what happens, LOL!

Review: Lost Talismans and A Tequila by Annette Marie

Title: Lost Talisman and A Tequila
Author: Annette Marie
Format: audiobook
Length: 7 hours 55 minutes
Narrator: Cris Dukehart and Teddy Hamiliton
Rating: 4 stars
Publication Date: August 25, 2020

Another fantastic addition to the Guild Codex: Spellbound series! I loved seeing Tori and the rest of the gang get pulled into another chaotic adventure involving magical artifacts, dangerous enemies, and plenty of trouble. The characters continue to be the best part of this series, and I especially love how their friendships and relationships keep developing with each book. There’s a great mix of humor, action, magic, and suspense, and I was completely hooked from beginning to end. Annette Marie continues to make this world so much fun to read, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

My mental health has been in the toilet most of this week. My husband has been working late a lot of nights, and the dog hurt himself (nothing series) but we had to take him to the vet to get antibiotics. I drove up to get my daughter from college so she could come home for a quick weekend as well.

I barely read on my Kindle this week, so I haven’t made much progress on Falls To Pieces.

I am almost done listening to Lost Talismans And A Tequila.

And I just started What Have You Done? a few days ago.

Shelfie Saturday

When I got back into reading during the Pandemic, I did not own a lot of books from my childhood (some, but not many). I slowly started building up a small library here at home. My house is small and I don’t have the space for a bookshelf anywhere. I ended up buying a narrow one to shove next to my nightstand in my bedroom. And I also bought a book cart with nowhere to really put that either (also shoved into a corner in my bedroom).

Then we all know that I stopped spending money on books in 2023. The only physical books that come in to my house are ones I am sent for free, find in a Little Free Library, or acquire with credit from the used bookstore from turning in books to them.

I moved my bookshelf and cart into the room we call the kids playroom two years ago when we needed room for the dog’s stuff in my bedroom. This is my shelving situation as of today…

There is no real organization with these books whatsoever! Many of these books are up for sale on PangoBooks (most of those are on the cart) and I have all the James Patterson books shoved together on the bottom two shelves.

I don’t know how else to deal with all these books, so this is what it’s gonna be until all the books I am selling on PangoBooks get sold.

Stacking The Shelves #13

Not my typical genre.
It’s been autumn weather around here & it’s put me in a seasonal mood.

Samhain sweeps magic into Gracie’s cosy Irish hometown, and with it the boy who broke her heart ten years ago…

Sunny librarian Gracie isn’t looking for love. After dumping her cheating ex, she’s living the life she’s always dreamed of as a small-town librarian – surrounded by books, knitted pumpkins, and the cosy magic of Samhain.

Then Flynn Anderson walks back into her life.

Not only is Flynn her childhood best friend, he’s the boy who broke her heart ten years ago, disappearing to New York with no explanation. Now he’s back, annoyingly handsome and somehow roped into helping her organise the village’s Halloween festivities. Even worse? They’re forced to share his family’s cottage. With only one bed.

Between sweet, funny notes, stolen glances, and far too many moments that make her pulse race, Gracie finds her feelings for Flynn are more complicated than she thought. And when a spicy fake kiss feels all too real, she faces an impossible choice.

Will Gracie be heartbroken again? Or will the magic of Samhain, and the support of their cosy small-town community, help Gracie and Flynn find their way home – this time, for good?

Can’t-Wait Wednesday – September 16, 2026

Can’t-Wait Wednesday  is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings to spotlight the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

I requested this one on NetGalley and was approved by the publisher (HarperAudio Adult). I was in a festive mood when going on a requesting spree and this one stood out to me. They Know If You’ve Been Bad Or Good publishes later this month!

There’s no escaping the holiday spirit in this dark, forced-proximity, why choose, Christmas stalker romance, the sequel to Alta Hensley’s New York Times bestselling He Knows When You’re Awake!

Stalkin’ around the Christmas tree…

Hailey Parker thought she had outrun her past. As the assistant to a successful jewelry designer, she’s started a new life in New York City, and may even have a new boyfriend to cozy up with this holiday. Her boss’s security guard, Knox, is a man of few words, but his obvious obsession calls to the darkest parts of Hailey’s imagination.

Then, her ex-boyfriend—and ex-partner-in-crime—shows up outside Hailey’s Brooklyn apartment. Liam explains that their past has caught up with them: the mobster they robbed five years ago has tracked them down. If they hope to escape with their lives, they must return to the remote Canadian wilderness where Hailey hid the priceless stolen diamond.

But a very different fate is awaiting them in the frigid landscape. Someone else entirely is pulling the strings, an unhinged billionaire who has a dark fascination with Hailey and Liam—and with the protective, ex-military boyfriend who has tracked Hailey all the way to the Northwest Territories.

Imprisoned together in a luxurious cabin and with a lethal ticking time bomb, Hailey, Liam, and Knox have no choice but to work together to outwit their captor. As a winter storm approaches—and simmering tensions between them reach a breaking point—escape starts to seem impossible…but what if everything they need is right there in the cabin?

Tropes:

  • Christmas romance
  • Why choose
  • Military romance
  • Stalking
  • One last job
  • Forced proximity
  • M/M/F
  • Second chance romance
  • Only one bed

National Hispanic Heritage Month 2026

“Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.”- census.gov

These are the books I plan to read featuring authors of Hispanic heritage. I’m a mood reader so a planned out TBR is always up in the air, lol!

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile!
This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.

The plan is to make progress in all of these books I have already started this week. Last week was my first week back to work this school year and it really knocked me on my butt!

Falls To Pieces (an First Reads eBook I own) *I’m 25% in
The Paper Menagerie (a library book) *I’m starting this one after work today
What We Did To Survive (a library audiobook) *I’m 67% in

All of these are library books I have borrowed and plan to get to next.

The school year started back up, which means I went back to work. This is my second year with my current company but my 11th year as a lunch lady.

Today we went to church in the morning, and then I attended a baby shower for my good friends wife in the afternoon. This is their first baby and we are so excited to meet him next month!

I haven’t had a ton of energy to sit and read this week. I listened to my audiobook to and from work and I tried to get some Kindle pages in before bed… but that’s about it. Wednesday I barely had the energy to pet the dog let alone stare at words on a page. (I actually took a two hour nap on Wednesday, which I never do because it messes with my sleep at nighttime. It did not this time, lol.)

I read this book a few years back so I thought I’d watch the movie when I saw it pop up on Netflix. I liked the movie even though it was different than the book (or what I remember of the book).

This is a mini series I’ve wanted to watch since 2022, and I finally got around to it this week.

Saturday Series: The Farseer Trilogy

This is book 1 in The Farseer Trilogy. I got this one on PangoBooks with the money I earned from selling a few books on PangoBooks. My credit card was not charged so I am counting this as a non-spend. This was also my first purchase on the app and I couldn’t be happier with how the whole transaction went.

I’m debating on just starting this series whenever I get a chance to, or waiting until the new year and focusing my whole reading journey on just bingeing the crap out the whole series in one go.

Have you read The Farseer Trilogy?

I am reading an Amazon First Reads choice that I picked last year but haven’t read yet. It’s called Falls To Pieces by Douglas Corleone.

I am listening to What We Did To Survive by Megan Lally. I enjoyed another one of her books so I thought I would listen to this one, and thanks to my library it was available on Libby.

I borrowed The Cuckoo’s Calling from the library. I am making significant progress in this story, and I am enjoying both main characters. I am making this one a priority this week!
